Christ Church Arts in Hudson, New York is presenting a reading of Censored: Banned Books and Freedom of Speech by Carolyn Kay Brancato on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 4 pm. 
The actors will bring the audience into key moments in the battle against censorship as far back as Puritan days. They will read from books that have been banned and explore the increasingly draconian penalties teachers, librarians, journalists and others face as they stand up to organized censorship and attempts to silence their First Amendment rights of Freedom of Speech. The audience will be invited to a talkback following the play.

Join us in this 5-week advanced silkscreen workshop where artist Rakel Stammer will guide students on leveling up their screen printing expertise. Students will build on foundational skills in screen printing through learning about digital transparencies and hand drawn alternatives. Students will learn about pin registration leading to cleaner prints and perfect registration for multiple color layers. Through Stammer’s years of experience in screen printing, she will help guide you to develop your prints to a professional standard. Any additional techniques taught in the workshop will be discussed in class.

This class is for those that have had prior experience in silkscreen printing. All materials are provided including 2 digital transparencies.

Dutchess Community College’s (DCC) Mildred I. Washington Gallery will present “Looking Through: 1997–2025 New York Series,” a solo exhibition of photographs by Jason Torres, on view Nov. 5–Dec. 12. The show captures nearly three decades of street and documentary photography reflecting the vibrant character and cultural rhythm of New York.

An opening reception will be held Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 5 p.m., followed by a gallery talk with the artist on Monday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.

A professional photographer, street photographer and visual artist, Torres once taught photography at DCC and returns this fall with a collection that pays tribute to both the city that shaped his artistic lens and his cultural roots. His work celebrates the texture, energy and diversity of Latino and New York life—extending the College’s celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month into November.

The exhibit is free and open to the public Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Docent-led tours are available on Saturdays by appointment. Visitors are advised to park in Lot D (GPS address: 97 Cottage Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601). Accessible parking is available at the top of the hill outside the gallery entrance.

The Paul Taylor Dance Company returns to the David H. Koch Theater November 4–23, 2025, with World Premieres by Resident Choreographers Lauren Lovette and Robert Battle, and the New York Premiere of Hope Boykin’s How Love Sounds. The soundscape is as bold as the dancing — from jazz icons Ella Fitzgerald, Wycliffe Gordon, and Mahalia Jackson, to the orchestral sweep of Antonín Dvořák and John Adams, to pop classics by Patsy Cline, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, and Donna Summer. Alongside Taylor favorites Esplanade and Company B, the repertory features treasures including Speaking in Tongues, the Whitman-inspired Beloved Renegade, Offenbach Overtures, Scudorama, Troilus and Cressida (reduced), and Concertiana, Taylor’s final dance. The Rick McLaughlin trio returns for another innovative evening of jazz, starting out with a discussion/demonstration focusing on the inner language and creative process of jazz, followed by a set of standards and new music with his trio featuring Sheryl Bailey on guitar, Yoron Israel on drums, and Rick on bass. Joining Rick will be special guest and local trumpet phenom Richard Stanmeyer.

Lyric Theatre Company is bringing one of the longest-running shows in Broadway history to The Flynn MainStage this November.

Lyric Theatre Company’s production of A Chorus Line will be presented at The Flynn MainStage November 13 through 16, 2025, with matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. and evening performances Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m.. Friday’s performance will feature an ASL translator for the hearing impaired.

Bridge Street Theatre closes its bold 2025 Mainstage Season with one of the most beloved plays in modern American theatre: Ernest Thompson’s On Golden Pond, running November 13–23 on BST’s intimate “Priscilla” Mainstage at 44 West Bridge Street, Catskill. Directed by BST Co-Founder John Sowle, this production brings warmth, humor, and quiet reflection to Thompson’s contemporary classic about aging, memory, and forgiveness.

For decades, Norman and Ethel Thayer have spent their summers at a rustic lakeside cabin in Maine. But as Norman’s memory falters and their estranged daughter arrives with her fiancé and his teenage son, long-buried tensions resurface. What follows is a funny, tender, and deeply human story about love withheld, love rediscovered, and the courage it takes to forgive.

Suffused with humor and deep emotional resonance, On Golden Pond closes BST’s 2025 season on a note of grace. NYC based trombonist and vocalist Ron Wilkins returns to The Other Side bringing with him more than 40 years of experience, having performed with such music legends as Dizzie Gillespie, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Rosemary Clooney, Lena Horne, Johnny Mathis, and numerous others, as well as his own groups.
