Trash Chic!, at The Sketchbook Gallery, is a celebration of creativity that transforms the often discarded, overlooked, and thrown away. This diverse group of artists challenge the ideas of value, beauty, and permanence while highlighting the potential within what we throw away. We invite viewers to reconsider what “trash”is and discover how imagination can turn trash into something striking, meaningful, and new.

This exhibition is in conjunction with Matter Out of Place at Jane St. Art.

Join us for a lively, hands-on family program featuring a participatory concert with Jordan Wax and an art-making workshop with illustrator Madison Safer for kids and caregivers. No Yiddish required—just curiosity and creativity!

Wax will perform bilingual Yiddish/English songs from his album Pantakozak and Other New Yiddish Songs for Kids, with playful, kid-generated tunes about polar bears, mythical creatures, and Jewish history. The concert is part folklore, part rhythm, and full of opportunities to join in.

Following the concert, Madison Safer will lead families in a collage-making activity inspired by the comical, mythical monster, Pantakozak. Families will also get the opportunity to create Yiddish materials with a hand-operated letter press.

West Stockbridge Historical Society Presents
Williams College Chamber Music Players Concert

Please join us for an afternoon of chamber music by Williams College students. The Williams College Chamber Music Program provides musical opportunities for very high-level instrumentalists who are not performance majors but devote much of their precious time to playing chamber music with their peers.   While most of these students will go on to careers in medicine, law, and the sciences, their music experiences enrich their academic lives.  We are delighted to share their artistry!

Included in the program will be selections from Shostakovich, Ravel and Castelnuovo-Tedesco.

The Misa a Buenos Aires (Misatango) is a groundbreaking work by Argentine composer Martín Palmeri that blends the dramatic rhythm of tango with the powerful expression of choral music. It is a setting of the mass in Latin, and the music uses the style of the nuevo tango, following the model of Astor Piazzolla, and includes elements from the history of church music, such as extended fugues in the opening and closing movements. In similar style is Palmeri’s Jüdische Kantate, composed in 2022: variations on Yiddish and Hebrew songs on texts from the Old Testament in the original language and in Latin.
Crescendo Chorus; soprano Nadia Aguilar; Rodolfo Marcelo Zanetti, bandoneón; and an instrumental ensemble with clarinet, piano, and strings, directed by Martín Palmeri and Christine Gevert.

The revered British singer has had a long, respected career as an art song specialist, but it was his performance at King Charles III’s coronation that brought him worldwide fame. Closing our season, he performs Schubert’s seminal song cycle about love and despair.

The 2026 annual Wallkill River Center fundraising party supports a variety of robust community arts programs, including the senior citizens weekly drop-in, art receptions, free music concerts, the Plein Air Festival and summer youth art programs. Featuring hearty hors d'oeuvres, wine, beverages, dessert, and live music, a selection of silent auction items donated by local businesses will be available for bidding, and attendees receive an original small work of art donated by community artists.
