"Fairview" at Confetti Stage
Confetti Stage is proud to present “Fairview” by Jackie Sibbles Drury, directed by Aaron Moore.
Beverly Frasier is frantically trying to prepare for a family birthday party, but dinner isn’t ready, the silverware is wrong, and her sister, husband, and daughter are less than helpful. What first appears to be a family comedy is soon overtaken by outside viewpoints – white voices commenting on the black family and on race in general. The play reaches a climax in the third act when the fourth wall comes crashing down and the characters and audience alike are forced to face the reality of hidden racism and cultural appropriation. Fairview examines the reality of how we tell stories and the creeping presence of white supremacy.
Director Aaron Moore challenges white audience members to consider how much control they truly have and to ask themselves which side of the house they are on while they view the play.
“Fairview” features Kym Dorsey, Hassan Harris Wilcher, Roger Kennedy, Vinny Miranda, Earth Phoenix, Eliana Rowe, Beverly Swimms, and Monica Vilela. It features lights by Laura Darling, sound by Stephen Henel, and costumes by Jennifer Bart.
