The Mohawk Valley Collective is organizing a full day of events, including live music, BBQ, open houses at historic locations, and an antique and craft fair, on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013 to support those affected by recent severe flooding in Fort Plain and along the Otsquago Creek.
Many of the businesses in Fort Plain are open and looking forward to participating in the day's events, as well as future tourism.
Activities will include:
- Day-long events at two project sites: Unity Hall in Fort Plain and West Hill School in Canajoharie
- Ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Tourist Information Center in downtown Canajoharie
- Many other coordinated open houses at historic and tourist sites in the Mohawk Valley
- Special tours and exhibits created for the event
- A raffle of more than $1,500 in items from area businesses
- A geocaching / scavenger hunt across the area, with prizes
- Antique and craft fair
- Live performances from musicians, including Emeralds of July, The Dependents, Spike & The Boys
- Barbecue dinners in the heart of both Fort Plain and Canajoharie
