The city of Troy is getting more federal funding to shore up its seawall.

Mayor Patrick Madden announced Monday that $12.8 million in federal funding has been awarded to Troy to finance the city’s Seawall Stabilization project. The funding was made available through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program for use toward improvements to approximately 7,750 linear feet of seawall downtown.

Project upgrades include new steel and concrete additions to the bulkhead to strengthen the structural integrity of the seawall, which will protect nearby structures and sewer infrastructure systems from potential breaches. This is the second installment of funding awarded by FEMA for seawall reconstruction and repair operations.
