That figure dwarfs the amount collected by his challengers Democrat Cynthia Nixon and Republican Marc Molinaro, who each have less than a million dollars in their war chests.

Marc Molinaro, the presumptive Republican candidate for New York governor, released his tax returns for 2017 Thursday, but his opponent, incumbent Governor Andrew Cuomo, raised the stakes, saying his GOP challenger should release ten years of tax returns.

Andrew Cuomo has two main challengers in the New York gubernatorial race, Cynthia Nixon on the left and Marc Molinaro on the right. Surprisingly the two agree on a number of key items as they make their case against the incumbent governor, including a laser -like focus on the incumbent governor’s perceived weaknesses. 

Hudson Valley Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney urged Cynthia Nixon not to run for governor before the “Sex and the City” star launched her campaign. Now that Nixon has made it official, Maloney — a Democrat from the 18th district — is coming to the aid of second-term Governor Andrew Cuomo. Speaking on WAMC’s Congressional Corner today, Maloney credited Cuomo for pushing through same-sex marriage in 2011, among other issues.

Challengers to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo were on the campaign trail Thursday, as the Democrat announced a massive new anti-poverty program in Brooklyn. Democratic candidate Cynthia Nixon visited the Finger Lakes to voice her opposition to a controversial proposed liquefied natural gas plant on Seneca Lake. 

Two of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s political opponents were at an Earth Day rally on climate change attended by hundreds at the State Capitol in Albany Monday, where they said the Democrat’s energy policies are far from adequate.

The progressive political party the Working Families Party split up over the weekend, with some of the last remaining major unions leaving the group. WFP announced they back Cynthia Nixon for Governor, while incumbent Andrew Cuomo withdrew from consideration, saying he’s sticking with the major unions, for now.

TV’s Sex and the City star and education advocate Cynthia Nixon won the endorsement of the minor party Working Families Party at a meeting in Albany Saturday. Governor Andrew Cuomo, who is running in a Democratic primary against Nixon, dropped out of contention for the party’s nomination Friday night, after delegates were leaning toward Nixon.

“I am so proud to accept the endorsement of the Working Families Party,” Nixon told the enthusiastic crowd of progressive and activist groups.

A key progressive third party in New York splintered Friday, as two major unions withdrew from the Working Families Party. Those still in the WFP say it makes it more likely that the activist groups remaining in the party will endorse Cynthia Nixon over Governor Andrew Cuomo in a party meeting on Saturday, as Cuomo announced that he is dropping out.
