Residents in Williamstown and Lanesborough, Massachusetts will vote Tuesday night on whether to combine the region’s four school committees.
Four school committees run Lanesborough and Williamstown elementary schools and Mount Greylock Regional High School.
The committees have agreed to consolidate in order to streamline resources and educational policies – pending majority approval in each town.
If the consolidation is approved, officials would start an 18-month process in January to craft contracts and a new umbrella committee.
The Berkshire Education Task Force says it would be one step closer to creating a countywide school district. It recommended such a move in July.
