UALBANY MEN'S SOCCER
For the second consecutive season, the University at Albany men’s soccer team won the America East championship. The Great Danes knocked off second-overall seed UMass Lowell on the road 1-0 in double overtime on freshman Andreas Assiotis’ first career goal.
In five career meetings with the Riverhawks, UAlbany has alternated wins and losses. It was the second time this season that UAlbany has beaten UMass Lowell, after winning 1-0 to open America East play at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium on September 30. Each of the last three games between UAlbany and UMass Lowell has ended 1-0.

NFL-SCHEDULE
The New Orleans Saints have extended their winning streak by crushing an AFC playoff contender.
Mark Ingram scored a career-best three touchdowns as the Saints won their seventh straight game, a 47-10 pounding of the Buffalo Bills.
The Saints blew the game open by scoring on five of their first six possessions. New Orleans finished with 298 yards rushing and 32 first downs, with Ingram providing 131 yards.
Drew Brees also ran for a TD and was 18 of 25 for 184 yards and no interceptions to help the Saints stay perfect since an 0-2 start.
The Bills slipped to 5-4 with their second straight loss and didn't reach the end zone until after the two-minute warning.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys' offense looked anemic in its first game without suspended running back Ezekiel Elliott. Dallas gained just 233 total yards and was shut out over the final 51 minutes of a 27-7 loss in Atlanta.
Adrian Clayborn set an Atlanta record with six sacks, the second most in NFL history. Matt Ryan tossed a pair of short TD passes after Tevin Coleman's one-yard run gave the Falcons a 10-7 halftime lead.

Also in the NFL:
— The Rams were winners in their first home game in a month. Robert Woods grabbed two of Jared Goff's three touchdown passes during the third quarter of a 33-7 rout of the Texans. Woods caught a 94-yard TD pass to break it open before Sammy Watkins and Woods made TD catches 19 seconds apart late in the third quarter. Woods had eight receptions for 171 yards for the 7-2 Rams, who are off to their best nine-game start in 16 years.
— Case Keenum threw touchdowns to four different receivers while the Vikings built a 35-17 lead in a 38-30 win at Washington. Keenum was 21 of 29 for 304 yards and TD passes to Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen, David Morgan and Jarius Wright. Minnesota picked up its fifth consecutive win, improved to 7-2 and dropped the Redskins to 4-5.
— Tom Brady threw three touchdown passes as the Patriots crushed the Broncos 41-6 to match their own AFC record with their 12th consecutive road victory. Brady was 25 of 34 passing for 266 yards as New England improved to 7-2. Dion Lewis scored on a 103-yard kickoff return and added a seven-yard rushing TD to help the Pats send the 3-6 Broncos to their fifth straight loss.
— Chris Boswell drilled a 33-yard field goal as time expired to push the Steelers past the Colts 20-17. Ben Roethlisberger's 32-yard completion to Antonio Brown with 35 seconds left set up the late kick that gave the 7-2 Steelers their fourth straight victory. Roethlisberger had 236 passing yards and threw a pair of scoring passes in the second half after Indianapolis took a 17-3 lead.
— The Packers won for the first time since losing quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Brett Hundley threw for 212 yards and a touchdown in a 23-16 triumph over the Bears. Ty Montgomery had a 37-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to help Green Bay end a three-game skid and improve to 5-4. Nick Perry had three sacks of rookie Mitchell Trubisky, who threw for a season-high 297 yards and hit Josh Bellamy for a 46-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
— The Lions are also 5-4 after Matthew Stafford connected on 17 of 26 passes for 249 yards and three second-half touchdowns in a 38-24 comeback over the winless Browns. Detroit quickly fell behind 10-0 and didn't take the lead for good until Stafford lofted a 29-yard, tiebreaking touchdown to Eric Ebron early in the fourth quarter. The Browns slumped to 0-9 despite rookie Deshone Kizer, who ran for 57 yards and a touchdown while completing 21 of his 37 passes for 232 yards and a TD in his best game of the season.
— The 49ers finally earned their first win of the season as C.J. Beathard threw for 288 yards and two TDs in a 31-21 victory over the stumbling Giants. Beathard also ran for a TD after connecting on an 83-yard TD to Marquise Goodwin and a 47-yarder to Garrett Celek in the second quarter. San Francisco gained its first win under coach Kyle Shanahan in a game that only heightened speculation that the 1-8 Giants might replace head coach Ben McAdoo.
— The Titans earned their fourth straight win by knocking off the Bengals 24-20 on Marcus Mariota's seven-yard touchdown pass to DeMarco Murray with 36 seconds to play. Murray ran for two touchdowns and Mariota finished with 264 yards passing as Tennessee improved to 6-3 with their longest winning streak since 2009. Cincinnati took its only lead at 20-17 on a 70-yard TD pass from Andy Dalton to A.J. Green with 5:03 left before Tennessee stayed tied with Jacksonville atop the AFC South at 6-3.
— The Jaguars have their first three-game winning streak in four years after Josh Lambo nailed a 30-yard field goal with 3:12 remaining in overtime to complete a 20-17 decision over the Chargers. Lambo also extended the game with a 34-yard kick to cap a wild final two minutes of regulation that included a fumble, two interceptions, a taunting penalty and a roughing the passer infraction. Chargers rookie Austin Ekeler fumbled while trying to run out the clock with a three-point lead, and Blake Bortles threw two interceptions while trying to rally the Jaguars in the final two minutes.
— Ryan Fitzpatrick beat his former team and the Buccaneers ended a five-game skid by downing the Jets 15-10. Fitzpatrick led two long scoring drives and Charles Sims scored on a six-yard run to put Tampa Bay ahead 15-3 with just over six minutes remaining. Josh McNown was 23 of 39 for 263 yards and one interception for the 4-5 Jets, who didn't score a TD until Robby Anderson's 38-yard grab in the final minute.
T25 COLLEGE FOOTBALL-POLL
Miami Hurricanes football players have spent much of their recent postgame news conferences complaining about a lack of respect and recognition. They got some on Sunday, ascending to second in The Associated Press poll after blowing out previous No. 3 Notre Dame.
The 9-0 Hurricanes climbed five spots in the poll and are one of just four unbeaten teams in the top 25. They also picked up four first-place votes, while No. 1 Alabama claimed the other 57.
The Crimson Tide are 10-0 following Saturday's fourth-quarter rally against Mississippi State.
Oklahoma moved up two spots to third and Clemson stayed fourth as they try to gain one of the four spots in the College Football Playoff semifinals.
Wisconsin is fifth, followed by Auburn, Georgia, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Oklahoma State. The Tigers climbed four places to sixth after beating the Bulldogs, who fell from second to seventh.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL-TENNESSEE-JONES OUT
Butch Jones is now the former head football coach at Tennessee, dismissed with two games left in the regular season.
The move comes amid a 1-5 skid that includes Saturday's embarrassing 50-17 loss to Missouri. The Vols have fallen to 4-6 after being ranked in the AP preseason poll.
Jones went 34-27 overall and 14-24 in the SEC over five seasons, leading the Vols to bowl victories each of the last three years.
NBA-SCHEDULE
The Boston Celtics were able to run their winning streak to a dozen games despite the absence of Kyrie Irving due to a facial fracture.
Al Horford returned from a two-game absence and delivered 21 points in the Celtics' 95-94 downing of the Raptors. Horford looked good in his first action since suffering a concussion.
Jaylen Brown added 18 points for the Celts, who remain perfect following an 0-2 start. Terry Rozier helped fill in for Irving with 16 points off the bench.

— The Rockets had three players score at least 20 points in a 118-95 thumping of the Pacers. James Harden contributed 26 points and 15 assists, Eric Gordon had 21 points and Clint Capela added 20 and 17 rebounds.
— Tobias Harris scored 25 points and Avery Bradley added 24 in Detroit's 112-103 victory over the Heat. Andre Drummond grabbed 17 rebounds for the 10-3 Pistons, who are second to Boston in the East and off to their best start since 2005-06.
— Paul George scored 37 points and Russell Westbrook added 27 to lead the Thunder past the Mavericks 112-99. George and Westbrook combined to score 32 of the Thunder's 39 points in a decisive third quarter and helped Oklahoma City win without injured starters Carmelo Anthony and Steven Adams.
T25 MEN'S BASKETBALL-SCHEDULE
The Louisville Cardinals have opened the post-Rick Pitino era by grinding out a home win against unheralded George Mason.
Deng Adel had 20 points and the 16th-ranked Cardinals won David Padgett's debut as interim coach by downing the Patriots 72-61. Darius Perry and Jordan Nwora combined for 22 points in the second half to help Louisville pull away after George Mason led by six with 12 minutes remaining.
The Cardinals looked tentative for nearly 30 minutes in its first regular season contest since Pitino was fired last month in the wake of a national federal investigation of corruption in college basketball.
In other top-25 action:
— Third-ranked Arizona rolled to a 103-78 win over UMBC behind Allonzo Trier's 30 points. DeAndre Ayton added 19 points and 13 rebounds for the 2-0 Wildcats.
— Hamido Diallo scored 13 of his 16 points in the first half before fifth-ranked Kentucky held off Vermont 73-69. P.J. Washington had a career-high 16 points for the Wildcats, who managed to hang on after missing seven of their last eight shots.
— No. 12 Miami rolled to an 89-55 win as D.J. Vasiljevic scored 16 points and Jacquan Newton added 14.
— Carsen Edwards scored a career-high 25 points and Vince Edwards added 15 points with 12 rebounds as No. 20 Purdue routed Chicago State 111-42.
— Myles Powell scored 18 points and Angel Delgado chipped in 17 points and 11 boards in No. 23 Seton Hall's 75-65 victory over Monmouth.
NHL-SCHEDULE
The New Jersey Devils continue to shed their reputation as a dull hockey club that relies on traps and solid goaltending.
Miles Wood recorded his first career hat trick and had an assist as the Devils outscored the Blackhawks 7-5 in Chicago. Rookie Nico Hischier had a goal and two assists for the Metropolitan Division leaders, who have won back-to-back games since a 2-0-2 skid.
Andy Green, Taylor Hall and Brian Gibbons also scored to back Keith Kincaid, who finished with 39 saves to help New Jersey improve to 11-4-2. The Devils also top their division with 61 goals.
The Blackhawks lost for the third time in four games despite defenseman Jan Rutta's one goal and two assists.
Elsewhere on NHL ice:
— T.J. Oshie provided the lone shootout goal in the Capitals' 2-1 verdict over the Oilers. Dmitry Orlov scored in regulation and Braden Holtby stopped 29 shots in Washington's fifth win in six games.
— Third-period goals by Melker Karlsson and Joel Ward allowed the Sharks to come away with a 2-1 win at Los Angeles. Ward scored on a long defecltion off his skate with 7:10 remaining to send San Jose to its sixth win in seven games.
— The Lightning also picked up a 2-1 win at Anaheim, thanks to J.T. Brown's tiebreaking goal in the third period. Vladislav Namestnikov also scored for Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 28 shots in Tampa Bay's fourth win in a row.
NASCAR-PHOENIX
Matt Kenseth and Brad Kezelowski were the big winners at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday.
Kenseth won for the first time this season in what might have been the second-to-last Cup race of his NASCAR career. He does not have a job lined up for next year and said he'll take a break at the start of the season.
Kenseth passed Chase Elliott with 10 laps remaining, denying Elliott the final berth in next week's championship race. Had Elliott hung on for the win, he would have qualified for the championship finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Instead of Elliott, it will be Kezelowski competing with Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick for the championship next Sunday at Homestead. Truex finished third at Phoenix, Harvick was fifth and Busch seventh.
F1-BRAZILIAN GRAND PRIX
Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel has won the Brazilian Grand Prix, overtaking pole sitter Valtteri Bottas on the first lap and leading most of the way.
Vettell is trying to lock up second place in the standings after Lewis Hamilton clinched the drivers' title two weeks ago.
Bottas finished second with Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari taking third.
PGA TOUR CHAMPIONS-SCHWAB CUP
Kevin Sutherland had two reasons to celebrate after winning the Charles Schwab Cup Championship at Phoenix Country Club.
Sutherland won for the first time in 78 starts on the PGA Tour Champions circuit. He also claimed the $1 million season title after entering the season finale ranked fifth in points.
Sutherland closed a 5-under 66 for a one-stroke victory over Vijay Singh. Bernhard Langer finished five shots back and missed a chance to win the season title for the fourth straight year despite winning the first two playoff events.
PGA-OHL CLASSIC
Patton Kizzire has won his first PGA Tour title by beating Rickie Fowler over 36 holes on the final day of the OHL Classic at Mayakoba.
Kizzire closed with rounds of 66-67 for a one-shot victory over Fowler. Kizzire finished at 19-under and earned a spot in the Masters.
TENNIS-FED CUP FINAL
The United States won its 18th Fed Cup title and the first since 2000 with a 3-2 win against Belarus.
CoCo Vandeweghe and Shelby Rogers beat Aryna Sabalenka and Aliaksandra Sasnovich () 6-3, 7-6 (3) in the deciding doubles. Vandeweghe won each of her two singles matches and teamed with Rogers to crawl out of a 2-5 hole in the second set.
