An 18-year veteran of the Pittsfield, Massachusetts Police Department is on administrative leave after a shooting at his home.
Officials say on the afternoon of July 18th, Officer Miles Barber claims he returned to his home on Cromwell Avenue in Pittsfield to find a woman who has not been identified suffering a gunshot wound.
She was taken to Berkshire Medical Center and listed in stable condition. Monday, the Pittsfield Police Department confirmed that Barber’s department-owned and -issued service weapon — a Glock model 22 — was the firearm used in the incident. The Massachusetts State Police Firearms Identification Section now has the weapon, and the Berkshire State Police Detective Unit is conducting the investigation. The Berkshire District Attorney’s office is now handling all questions about the investigation. The department says Barber is also the subject of a separate internal administrative investigation.
