A Dutchess County resident launched his campaign Monday to challenge freshman Republican John Faso in New York’s 19th Congressional District.
Democrat Antonio Delgado of Rhinebeck says his decision comes after three months of considering the run. He delivered his announcement via video.
“I don’t know where we went wrong, but something has gone wrong, and we’ve lost sight of the public good,” Delgado says. “We owe it to ourselves, we owe it to our community, we owe it to our country to do our part, to restore the American dream.”
Delgado, who grew up in Schenectady and is a senior attorney with a New York City law firm, joins at least five other Democrats who have announced or are considering runs in the 19th Congressional District, a swing district that spans 11 counties.
