Connecticut Officials Travel To Taiwan

Connecticut Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman is leading a weeklong business and trade mission to Taiwan.

Wyman will be joined on the trip by several state legislators, including Fairfield Sen. Tony Hwang, East Hartford Sen. Tim Larson and Stamford Rep. William Tong. All are Democrats except for Hwang, who is a Republican.

Wyman's office said the mission is being funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of China. The group is scheduled to depart on Sunday.

The Connecticut officials are expected to discuss issues such as economic development partnerships, health care, education and transportation with officials in Taiwan. Meetings are planned at various offices, including the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and the Council of Agriculture.
