Programming Notes: June 2019

As summer approaches, WAMC gears up for another season of coverage and commitment to its listeners. Covering topics that range from our Fund Drive to environmental issues, eco-friendly efforts and the primaries, WAMC’s beach bag is packed and ready to go.

Starting Monday, June 3rd at 6 a.m., we will begin the on-air portion of WAMC’s summer Fund Drive. Please consider donating at wamc.org or by calling 1-800-323-9262. Every dollar counts towards our $1 million goal.

The Academic Minute will feature weekly takeovers by the University at Albany and Wheaton College in Massachusetts. Topics discussed will include: HIV prevention, battling the underground gun market, farmers markets and citizen scientists. On June 21st at 10:30 p.m., we will feature Person Place Thing’s live episode (taped at The Linda, WAMC’s Performing Arts Studio) with special guest Ecovative CEO and co-founder Eben Bayer. Ecovative Design is a leading biomaterials company that has created of a wide range of products from luxury leather-like materials and high performance foams in apparel, to cellular scaffolding for food and medical applications.

WAMC News will have full coverage of local primary elections on June 25th, including the races for mayor in Troy, Cohoes and Schenectady, NY. Whether New York will legalize marijuana is just one outstanding question we will also cover before state lawmakers are due to leave Albany on June 19th. Stay subscribed to the WAMC News Podcast for the latest.  

Coming in July, WAMC will continue the tradition of broadcasting the Boston Symphony Orchestra live from Tanglewood.  Please look in next month’s programming guide for the broadcast schedule.  The season starts July 5th.

Live at the Linda will continue to air Sunday evenings at 8 p.m. through the end of the Tanglewood season in late August.
