Joining us today on Medical Monday to discuss neurological issues, specifically the treatment and surgical interventions for epilepsy are Drs. Matthew Adamo and Timothy Lynch of Albany Medical Center.
Dr. Matthew Adamo specializes in general and pediatric neurosurgery, including surgical treatment for epilepsy, brain and spinal cord tumors, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries and congenital and developmental abnormalities, such as spina bifida.
A graduate of SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, he is highly skilled in the use of the most advanced state-of-the-art technology available for treating these conditions, and for utilizing techniques such as neuroendoscopy and neuronavigation for various neurosurgical procedures.
Dr. Timothy Lynch has advanced training in epilepsy and extensive experience in electroencephalography (EEG) – the measuring of electrical activity produced by the brain.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, Dr. Lynch and his colleagues are continuously researching new and innovative therapies to treat epilepsy. He is a graduate of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where he also completed his internship in internal medicine.
Albany Medical Center is a level 4 designated epilepsy center - the highest designation offered by the national association of epilepsy centers - meaning they have the highest level of surgical and treatment options for patients with epilepsy. WAMC's Bob Barrett hosts.
