The Saratoga Performing Arts Center has completely reimagined their Saratoga Wine and Food Festival – happening this coming weekend. The festival will feature a collaboration between renowned regional chefs and international culinary talent including UK farm-to-table chefs.

Adding to the ambiance of the festival will be a sculpture garden presented by The Hyde Collection featuring works by artist John Van Alstine, considered one of America’s most important sculptors, in addition to live music curated by Caffè Lena, and photographic works of art created from compostables by Terri-Lynn Pellegri.

The festival is set around the Spa State Park reflecting pool, slated for October 4-5. We are joined by President & CEO of Saratoga Performing Arts Center Elizabeth Sobol and Caffè Lena Executive Director Sarah Craig.

US Department of Agriculture

The Berkshire Regional Planning Commission has been awarded a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant for its Berkshire Market Collective project.

This Saturday, August 20th, Big Slide Brewery and Public House on Cascade Road in Lake Placid, New York will hold its grand opening party from noon to 8 p.m.

The event will include live music, locally sourced food, a mechanical bull, games and activities for kids and families, and, of course, great beer -- including a new Russian Imperial Stout, named "To Russia, with love" which has been aging in a decommissioned Atlas Missile silo for the last eight months.

The new establishment is a sister-brewery to the The Lake Placid Pub & Brewery which has been brewing excellent beer in the Adirondacks since 1996.

Our guest is Stu Ruttan, the General Manager of Big Slide Brewery and Public House.

A local cookbook author is taking a serious “staycation” to highlight the nature, culture and food the Berkshires have to offer. Working with Berkshire Farm & Table, Alana Chernila and her husband are starting a 75-mile walk from the Vermont border to the Connecticut border Sunday to see the sights of Berkshire County – stopping to fuel up at well-regarded restaurants and rest their heads at the area’s lodging sites.

Facebook: Outstanding In The Field

The Berkshires are widely known for tourism, but what about people flocking to the region for its food? Well those in the industry are working to make that a reality.

At John Andrews Farmhouse Restaurant, we make ricotta from scratch using local milk and cream. We also substitute rice flour for wheat flour for this  gluten-free entrée on our menu. Home chefs can substitute store-bought ricotta and wheat flour for a slightly different, yet still delicious version.
