  • Jeremy O. Harris, recently named inaugural creative director of the Williamstown Theatre Festival’s Creative Collective, will share his creative process as he develops his new play prior to its world premiere at Williamstown Theatre Festival, in a program in Club B10 at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Mass., tonight at 8pm.
  • Early 1990s UK shoegaze legends slowdive bring their vintage dream-pop to the Hunter Center at MASS MoCA tonight at 8pm. (Fri, Jan 31)
  • Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter Ari Hest brings his catchy, pop-inflected original compositions to Park Theater in Hudson, N.Y., tonight at 7:30pm. A road warrior who has shared stages with the likes of Martin Sexton, Suzanne Vega, and Ani DiFranco, Ari began writing, recording, and releasing a song every two weeks through his Patreon page in early 2022 and continues to do so through today. (Fri, Jan 24)
  • Bobby Previte and the Bobby Previte Pocket Orchestra will “re-alchemize” Miles Davis’s landmark jazz-funk fusion album, Bitches Brew, at Race Brook Lodge in Sheffield, Mass., tonight at 8pm. Drummer-composer-bandleader Previte and his ensemble will use Davis’s iconic album as a jumping off place to explore a large-scale sonic conversation, equal parts arranged and improvised. (Fri, Jan 17)
  • Palaver Strings, a musician-led string ensemble from Portland, Maine, spends a two-day performing residency at Tourists in North Adams, Mass., tonight and Saturday at 8pm. Friday night’s show will showcase Palaver members solo and in small chamber ensembles.
  • Innovative violinist and composer Todd Reynolds brings his genre-defying sounds to Heart’s Pace in North Adams, Mass., tonight at 7pm.
  • The seven-time Grammy Award-winning Paul Winter Consort will present their iconic Winter Solstice Celebration at Troy Savings Bank Music Hall tonight at 7:30pm. The Consort will include Paul Winter on soprano sax, along with cello, piano, bass, drums and vocals by Theresa Thomason. (Fri, Dec 27)
  • Countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo stars in “Come Out of the Cold: A Winter Cabaret,” at Bard Fisher Center in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., tonight at 7pm. Costanzo will be joined by the singers from Bard’s Graduate Vocal Arts Program and the Conservatory Piano Fellows in a program of festive, seasonal songs including “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming,” “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, and “White Christmas.” (Fri, Dec 20)
  • Selected Shorts, the popular public radio program featuring actors reading works of contemporary literature, returns to the Mahaiwe in Great Barrington, Mass., with an all-new holiday-themed episode, featuring original Saturday Night Live cast member Jane Curtin, Joanna Gleason, Michel Gill, and Bhavesh Patel, on Saturday at 1pm.
  • This week’s preview goes beyond this weekend and looks ahead at the next few weeks, during which time the Rogovoy Report will be on vacation. We’ll be back with a brand new report on Friday, December 13.
