Sepideh Moafi recently starred as Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi on the riveting medical drama, ‘The Pitt,’ and is known for her roles in ‘The L Word: Generation Q’ and ‘The Deuce.’She is returning to her theater roots this year in ‘New Born,’ a play composed of three monologues written by Ella Hickson.

The Writers Resist Revival was founded by a group of local writers to blend community spirit, creative energy, great writing, and powerful performances into protest against oppression and authoritarianism. The last was held in 2017, but now they are back! On Sunday April 26th the Writers Resist Revival will be held from 5- 8pm, doors open at 4pm, at the Bearsville Theater.

A local community art hub is getting a refresh by adding retail space for art made in-house.

Sometimes, artists experience a creative block. But Nathan Sawaya gets creative with blocks. His “The Art of the Brick” exhibit features dinosaurs, sculptures and re-creations of artwork all made of Legos. Before the exhibit opens at Schenectady’s Armory Thursday, I spoke with Sawaya about everything that inspires his work – from child hood memories to his life’s journey.

Arts and culture are one of the most vibrant sectors of the Berkshire County economy. As a result, the leaders of 10 arts and culture institutions from across Berkshire County have convened the Berkshire Arts and Culture Alliance (BACA) to advocate for economic, tourism, and infrastructure needs of the arts and culture organizations in the county. The village of Schuylerville, New York in Saratoga County is home to a growing tourism, arts, and culture scene. In a garage or on a local business’ patio, you’ll find Shortwave RadioBand. It formed as a duo in 2019, playing acoustic rock covers. Andy Scullin and Lonny Eaton eventually added drummer John Woods, Abby Stone, a trumpeter, and guitarist Ryan Shaw. This Thursday, the band is celebrating the release of its first album at NoFun in Troy. Scullin says the band has been on a journey to write its own songs and blend ideas as a group.
