Westchester Preps For Wuhan Coronavirus

The Westchester County Health Department is preparing for any cases of coronavirus amid an outbreak in China. This comes as New York Governor Andrew Cuomo outlined the state’s response to two confirmed cases of the virus in the U.S. — in Washington state and Chicago — while investigating four potential cases in New York.

Cuomo said Friday that four people in isolation were under investigation for the virus. So far, one person is negative for the virus and results from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are still pending for the other three. Westchester County Health Department officials say there is no immediate threat, and they are sharing information with local medical providers. The county has created a web page on coronavirus for the public. Meantime, Cuomo says the state Health Department has been hosting readiness webinars for hospitals, local health departments and medical staff at colleges and universities.
