Vermont Congressman Peter Welch handily won re-election last week, taking 82 percent to the 9 percent his Liberty Union opponent Erica Clawson received.  The Democrat returns to a House of Representatives preparing for a Trump presidency and Republican control.  Vermont’s sole representative says he was very disappointed and surprised by the results of the presidential election.
"I did believe the polls.  I thought Hillary Clinton was going to win. And I am now here in Washington with everyone else and folks on both sides of the aisle, quite frankly, were pretty stunned at the outcome of that election. But it’s going to be a whole new world here."
