The Burlington School District says it's working on a plan to improve the racial climate among staff after the director and two other employees of the diversity office complained of discrimination.
A lawyer for the employees, including one who has since left the job, says the district has been slow to act.
The employees, who are black, filed a complaint in June 2015 to a school board committee that they were experiencing a lack of respect from colleagues and outright harassment and discrimination.
The school board voted in early August to have the superintendent create a plan after an outside investigation found "pervasive racism" exists.
Superintendent Yaw Obeng says the district wants to put a plan in place that gives staff a safe place to go to report discrimination.
