Prom-date Rejection Investigated In Connecticut School Killing

Police have charged a 16-year-old boy with murder in the fatal stabbing of a fellow student inside a Connecticut high school.

Milford police said the defendant was charged Friday as a juvenile offender. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in New Haven and could later be charged as an adult.

Police also executed a search warrant at the home of the suspect, whose name has not been released because of juvenile offender laws.

Sixteen-year-old Maren Sanchez died from injuries she suffered in the attack Friday morning in a hallway of Jonathan Law High School in Milford.

Authorities recovered a knife as evidence from the crime scene.

Investigators are looking into whether a refusal of a prom invitation played a role in the attack.
