Plattsburgh Mayor Colin Read has released his proposed 2020 budget.
The budget the mayor is forwarding to the city council for consideration lowers the property tax rate and allows the city to continue its road repaving and reconstruction plans. Democrat Read says the budget includes about a $400,000 surplus. “The 2020 budget demonstrates that the city can actually moderate spending, create growth, repair a depleted fund balance, take care of the core mission and lower taxes at the same time.”
A public hearing on the $60 million spending plan will be held August 30th at 11 a.m. at City Hall.
