An advisory committee looking into an east-west passenger rail project in Massachusetts will meet again Monday in Springfield.
The committee of elected officials and regional planners will get another chance to question consultants hired by MassDOT about their conclusions that building a new cross-state rail line would be eye-poppingly expensive while attracting relatively few riders.
Democratic State Senator Eric Lesser said the feasibility study is incomplete.
" There isn't a good explanation of the benefits," Lesser said. "I believe the ridership numbers are dramatically underestimated."
A final recommendation from MassDOT on an east-west rail project is expected by the end of May.
