Traffic congestion in Massachusetts has reached what is called a “tipping point” according to a new report released Thursday by state officials.
The report confirmed what most drivers already know: commutes take longer on average and are less predictable day-to-day because bad weather or an accident can have a cascading effect that causes more congestion.
The report identified traffic bottlenecks in every part of the state with the worst places in the Boston area.
Massachusetts Transportation Secretary Stephanie Pollack said the report makes a number of recommendations.
" There is no silver bullet," said Pollack. " There is no one thing the Commonwealth can do that will make congestion better here."
Gov. Charlie Baker has filed a $19 billion transportation bond bill. It includes a proposed tax credit program for people to work from home.
