The Massachusetts Black and Latino Caucus has announced priorities for the new legislative session.
Leading the Caucus as its new chairman is three-term Democratic State Rep. Carlos Gonzalez of Springfield.
He said the priorities address specific issues impacting the state’s communities of color.
"When we look at all our ills in innercity communities, black and brown communities, the main issue that surrounds it all: poverty," said Gonzalez.
The Caucus endorsed 27 bills that have been filed dealing with issues ranging from K-12 school funding to fair housing to climate change in urban communities.
