Lyme Disease In Focus At Adirondack Forum

Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies

House Republicans Chris Gibson and Elise Stefanik of New York are hosting a community forum on tick borne illness today. The forum at Adirondack Community College will focus on efforts to combat Lyme and other diseases.

Stefanik says the event will allow attendees to speak with local experts.

"So many families in the Adirondacks and in this district have been affected by Lyme diesease," says Stefanik. "We've also invited researchers and a PhD from [the Trudeau Institute] in Franklin County to talk about some of the studies he's done about tick-borne diseases and its increase in the Adirondacks, so it's really for members of the public to educate themselves."

The event begins at 9 a.m. Republican State Senators Betty Little and Kathy Marchione, and Assemblyman Dan Stec also plan to attend.
