UMass Amherst says a new $101 million science building will help fill the workforce pipeline for the state’s innovation economy.
During a tour of the new Physical Science Building, Gov. Charlie Baker conceded he did not understand a lot of the research he was told is going on there, but he said he was very impressed by the enthusiasm of the students he met.
" The fire in the belly was really meaningful and moving to me," said Baker.
Funding for the new lab included $85 million from a state higher education bond bill. UMass said the building contains 130 laboratory benches for the physics and chemistry departments.
