Dutchess Will Roll Out Memorial Day Convoy

Courtesy of Dutchess County government

Most traditional Memorial Day celebrations have been cancelled or are not open to the public because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In New York’s Hudson Valley, Dutchess County has organized a vehicle convoy to recognize fallen heroes.

The convoy of county, police, fire and local municipality vehicles will be driven throughout Dutchess County Monday. After laying wreaths at the Dutchess County War Memorial, the Memorial Day Convoy will depart at 11 a.m. escorted by Dutchess County Sheriff’s vehicles decorated by local artist Leah Eddington. City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department vehicles will join as the convoy travels down Main Street, taking Route 9 south. Each municipality will have official vehicles join the convoy as it travels through their areas. Residents are encouraged to hang American flags along the convoy’s route.
