Two county executives in New York’s Hudson Valley have delivered updates about nursing home COVID-19 testing. Dutchess County has completed testing at two facilities.
Republican Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro says his county has procured 3,600 tests, enough to test every resident in the 13 nursing homes in Dutchess. He says 104 residents were tested at Wingate at Beacon, with 13 new cases of COVID-19 identified; and 157 residents were tested at The Pines at Poughkeepsie with six new cases. The majority of these 19 new cases were asymptomatic and were identified because of the testing initiative. Speaking Tuesday, Democratic Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan says nursing home testing continues.
“We just received yesterday [Monday] 3,000 additional tests from New York state, and thank you to Governor Cuomo and his team for helping us there” says Ryan. “That give us the supplies we need to continue that testing of all those facilities, so we’re making progress on that.”
