The largest fair in the Northeast opened its gates in western Massachusetts to the public Friday morning.
More than 1.5 million people went to the Big E last year at the Eastern States Exposition fairgrounds in West Springfield. In a bid to draw even more people to this year’s fair, the number of musical acts has been dramatically expanded. About 80 shows are scheduled over the course of the fair’s 17-day run.
