Michael Ashe Retires After 42 Years As Hampden County Sheriff

       Hampden County Sheriff Michael Ashe retired this month after 42 years on the job. 

         The longest-serving elected sheriff in Massachusetts history leaves a legacy of innovative programs for inmate rehabilitation that became national models.   WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Ashe.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts.
