Plattsburgh Suspends Shoveling In Bitter Cold

WikiMedia Commons

A newly enacted city ordinance in Plattsburgh is being suspended this weekend due to expected cold temperatures.
The Plattsburgh Common Council recently passed a measure requiring that homeowners and businesses immediately clear sidewalks following a snowfall.

Plattsburgh Mayor James Calnon suspended the city law on Friday until the extreme cold is over.

He notes that only minor snowfall is expected and extreme wind chill could result in frost bite within 10 minutes of exposure.

Calnon said he does not want fear of a sidewalk snow ticket to result in residents exposing themselves to dangerous temperatures.
