North Country Congressman Democrat Bill Owens says he has no objection to Governor Cuomo’s plan to allow some hospitals in New York to dispense medical marijuana.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is expected to outline his plan to allow a limited number of hospitals to dispense marijuana for certain ailments during in his State of the State speech on Wednesday.  The governor would use his administrative powers to phase in use of the drug at 20 hospitals across the state.  Congressman Bill Owens says the plan makes sense.  "If people are suffering and there is a substance that will help them that  can be controlled adequately, then I think it makes great sense to do that. And I think running it through the hospital system is an excellent idea."

About 20 states have medical marijuana laws.
