The next scheduled trial over the drug industry's liability in the opioid crisis has been postponed because of the coronavirus outbreak.
The trial had been scheduled to start in Central Islip, New York, on March 20, with opening statements expected in early April. The trial is delving into claims against drugmakers and distributors filed by the State of New York and two counties. Some companies and a group of state attorneys general have been trying to reach a national settlement before the New York trial. The delay could mean more time to get states to agree.
