Listening Sessions On Marijuana Legalization In New York Begin This Week
A series of public hearings on legalizing recreational marijuana in New York will begin this week in Albany.
Marijuana has already been legalized for recreational use in Massachusetts and Vermont. Now, New York may be moving closer to doing the same.
Governor Andrew Cuomo recently announced 15 listening sessions on marijuana legalization would be held across New York.
The first hearing will be held Wednesday at the Albany Capital Center on Eagle Street. A hearing is scheduled for Thursday on the campus of SUNY Adirondack in Queensbury.
Listening sessions will continue through mid-October.
A group of Democratic New York State Assembly members is also planning four public hearings on marijuana legalization this fall.
