With Memorial Day weekend approaching, the mayor of Lake George is predicting a strong start to the summer tourist season.

Visitors to Lake George this summer will have access to a slew of events at new Charles R. Wood Park Festival Space. Beginning with Americade during the first week of June, other events include a fishing derby, food and music festivals, a concert by Arlo Guthrie, and more.

The village also boasts a newly restored Million Dollar Beach.

“Lake George is much like an amusement park. IN order to get folks coming back each year, you have to do different things. You have to be creative and you have to be affordable," said Mayor Bob Blais.

Lower gas prices will also help bring in out-of-towners, but of course, a good summer kickoff is largely dependent on the weather.
