Albany, NY – Amtrak says it has restored most service to much of the East Coast affected by Tropical Storm Irene. WAMC's Tristan O'Neill reports...

Starting today, Amtrak will operate full schedules for the Maple Leaf, between New York and Toronto, and Empire Service, between New York and Albany/Rensselaer.

Additional Empire Service will operate between New York and Niagara Falls on Saturday, with full Empire Service - New York to and from Buffalo/Niagara Falls - starting Sunday.

Amtrak will operate a modified Sunday schedule due to the Labor Day holiday.

The only service segment remains suspended is Northeast Regional trains east of Richmond to and from Newport News, Virginia. This service is anticipated to return to full operation on Saturday.

Passengers who have paid for travel on canceled trains can contact Amtrak to receive refunds.
