The city of Pittsfield, Massachusetts has suspended the liquor and entertainment licenses of a downtown bar and eatery owned by a city councilor.
North Street’s Methuselah Bar Lounge, owned by At-Large City Councilor Yuki Cohen, received the suspension for violating COVID-19 safety standards. In a video posted to social media, Cohen was seen dancing on top of the bar without a mask on April 15th. Cohen, who was cited for a variety of violations from failure to enforce face coverings to failure to provide food with alcoholic beverages, says she is complying with an order to submit a new safety plan to the city.
“I want to make amends, I want to do better, and I want to make sure that this doesn’t happen again. So I have already reached out to the health department.”
Cohen has appeared before the licensing board over issues at Methuselah for over half a dozen violations since it opened in 2014. The liquor license suspension runs from May 1st to May 28th, and the entertainment license suspension runs from May 1st to June 25th.
