The Berkshire County District Attorney’s office announced Friday that it has secured a conviction of a New York man for two attempted rapes.
DA Andrea Harrington says Andrew Gombar of Chatham, 36, was found guilty of assault with intent to commit rape, assault and battery, kidnapping, and assault and battery with intent to commit rape by Judge John Agostini.
“This was an attempt to abduct a young women as she was leaving work at the Lipton Mart in Great Barrington, and then the second attempt was an attempt to abduct a woman who was at Olivia’s Overlook," Harrington told WAMC.
Both incidents happened in 2018. Gombar has not yet received a sentence for the crimes.
