Pittsfield Mayor Reflects On Tough Berkshire Campaign Season

The contentious battle for Berkshire district attorney exposed some political fault lines leading up to last week’s election. The first local leader to make a stand in the Democratic primary was Pittsfield Mayor Linda Tyer. Tyer endorsed Andrea Harrington over DA Paul Caccaviello in late August. On Tuesday, Harrington defeated Caccaviello, who mounted a write-in campaign in the general election. WAMC spoke with Tyer about her decision to endorse, and what comes next in Berkshires politics after the bruising election.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
