Nurses at a western Massachusetts hospital have set a date for a one-day strike.
Nurses at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield plan to strike on Wednesday, February 28th.
The members of the Massachusetts Nurses Association had a one day strike at the hospital back in June, which was followed by a two-day lockout by management.
Donna Stern, co-chair of the union’s bargaining committee said the 200 nurses have been without a new contract since January 2017.
"We have not had a formal bargaining session in months," Stern said Friday in an interview after the strike notice was announced.
The union is required to give the hospital a ten-notice of the strike.
Democratic Congressman Jim McGovern has offered to mediate the dispute, but hospital management declined.
