Williamstown Discusses Ban On Recreational Pot

wikipedia.org

Williamstown, Massachusetts is weighing its options to ban recreational marijuana, which is now legal statewide.

Williamstown could let residents decide whether to ban recreational pot at the special election to replace the late State Representative Gailanne Cariddi on November 7th, or at its town elections in May.

Or, iBerkshires reports the Select Board could allow last November’s statewide ballot question to speak for itself.

Many communities are discussing retail pot. Pittsfield is holding a meeting August 21st.

In July, Governor Charlie Baker signed a law allowing communities to opt out of recreational pot sales and to determine local taxes on the drug.

The Berkshire Regional Planning Commission will hold a recreational marijuana workshop for political leaders in Lenox August 31st.
