The Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development has started to evaluate the Community Development Corporation of South Berkshire’s plan to build low-to-moderate income housing in downtown Great Barrington.
State housing officials visited the redevelopment site of the Community Development Corporation of South Berkshire on Thursday. It is the next step in the funding application to build 45 new apartments.
The Community Development Corporation’s Bentley Apartment complex is phase one of a plan to create affordable homes and a center for economic and job growth in Great Barrington. The development includes one, two, and three-bedroom apartments for families with incomes up to $54,000.
The apartment complex was approved for the site by the Great Barrington Zoning Board of Appeals in August 2016.
