The city of Pittsfield celebrated the opening of a community center with an open house Tuesday afternoon. The community area in the recently renovated 127-unit Wilson Park housing development on Mohegan Street will serve as a family resource center offering wellness clinics and childhood learning programs. Mayor Dan Bianchi says it’s an effort to create a partnership between residents and their city.
“We want to reach out to the people that live in these various housing communities to make sure that they have the services that they need, but to know that they have a community that cares about them,” Bianchi said. “We want that be reciprocal.”
Two other community centers in Francis Plaza and Dower Square opened in June 2013.
