Massachusetts Treasurer Steve Grossman, a Democratic candidate for governor, will be in western Massachusetts today in support of a local legislator.Following a visit to Apex Resource Technologies in Pittsfield, Grossman is scheduled to help kick off State Representative Smitty Pignatelli’s reelection campaign at the Pittsfield Country Club. Pignatelli, a Democrat representing the Fourth Berkshire District, is seeking his seventh consecutive term and is unopposed. He’s also supported Grossman in his bid against fellow Democrats Martha Coakley and Don Berwick.

“Personally, I think he’s the only Democrat in the field currently, that can win in November,” said Pignatelli.

Meanwhile, Governor Patrick will take part in NPR’s taping of Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me! at Tanglewood in Lenox Thursday night.
