Connecticut Budget Deal Won't Include Keno

Connecticut Democrats say they've reached an agreement on a revised budget for the new fiscal year that begins on July 1.

Democratic legislators, who control the General Assembly, are expected to call the budget bill up for a vote this weekend.

This year's session of the General Assembly adjourns on Wednesday.

The revised plan no longer includes Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's proposed $55-per-person tax rebate because of a plunge in the projected state surplus.

But Malloy says money was found to scrap plans to allow the state Lottery Corporation to run Keno, a gambling game that was originally approved last year as a revenue-generator, but has not yet been implemented.
