Vermont Group Calls for Government Transparency

A Vermont-based public policy group is calling for greater transparency and accountability in state government.

The Campaign For Vermont unveiled its recommendations at the Statehouse . They include a call for every bill that moves through the Legislature have provisions related to transparency and accountability.

Campaign for Vermont describes itself as nonpartisan. Its membership includes several former and current Republican lawmakers and candidates for office.

It says Vermont's push for single-payer health care puts the state on a "radically different course" than the federal Affordable Care Act, and may undermine the state's economy.

The group also says renewable energy currently costs far more than working Vermonters and the small businesses that employ them can afford.
