Prosecutors Track Cell Phone in Custody Case

Federal prosecutors in a Vermont court say a cell phone used by a Virginia businessman moved from Virginia to New York while a woman and her daughter were fleeing the country so the woman could avoid sharing custody of the child with her former lesbian partner in Vermont.

Prosecutors in the case against Kenneth Miller used cell phone records to track the progress of Lisa Miller and her daughter Isabella from Virginia to Buffalo, N.Y., on Sept. 21, 2009. The pair crossed into Canada the next day where they flew from Toronto to Nicaragua. Kenneth Miller, a Mennonite pastor, is accused of helping her flee.

Prosecutors say the cell phone used by Response Unlimited owner Philip Zodhiates  made the same trip from Virginia to Buffalo at the same time.
