A New York state senator is launching a virtual initiative to spark interest among local teens in the trades.

In the coming weeks, Republican state Senator Sue Serino will release a series of videos highlighting local businesses and organizations, their founders and employees, to help students learn more about the ways they can get involved in the trades in the Hudson Valley. Serino launched the initiative in Putnam County at Tompkins Excavating in Putnam Valley, a family business that spans two generations. The first videos in the series will feature interviews with President of Tompkins Excavating Stacey Tompkins, her son Kevin, the operations manager, and her office assistant.
