Visitation Hours Wednesday For Former NYS Senator Bill Larkin

Former NYS Senator William Larkin

Visitation hours are Wednesday in Orange County for longtime former New York state Senator Bill Larkin. The decorated combat veteran died Saturday at age 91.

Visitation is from 4-8 today at the Newburgh Armory Unity Center in the William and Pat Larkin Education Center. A funeral service is being held Thursday morning at 11 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson. Larkin served nearly 40 years in the state Legislature, first in the Assembly from 1979-1990. Before that, he was Town of New Windsor supervisor. One of Larkin’s legacy accomplishments was helping to found the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor in New Windsor. And he initiated the campaign to create the Purple Heart Forever stamp. Larkin retired from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel.
