Authorities Say Charges Make A Dent In Two Drug Rings In Peekskill

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara says federal charges brought April 7 signify a big step in neutralizing two different drug rings that have been peddling drugs for years in Peekskill.

The charges allege the 10 defendants conspired to sell 28 grams or more of crack cocaine. Charges against six of the defendants allege they also cut up and packaged the crack for resale in a location in Peekskill while the other four face charges of distributing crack in and around Peekskill. The defendants range in age from 24 to 47. Officials say five defendants were taken into federal custody and presented in White Plains federal court. Two defendants remain at large and an additional three defendants were already in state custody.
